Healthcare Preparedness Consulting and Planning
We believe the essence of Preparedness begins and ends with the Emergency Management Plan (EMP). Tight plans and diligent updates from activities facilitate continuity and program sustainment. Response Systems consults, trains and designs exercises that fits your particular place along the preparedness continuum.
Response Systems was conceived by lifelong medical health care professionals who became determined to fill the gap of expert related disaster management within health care settings. Our team of physicians, nurses and EMT’s has worked inside hospitals and health care communities throughout their careers. They have reinforced their commitment to the field of emergency management by obtaining training certifications at leading US medical universities and US Homeland Security Training Centers focusing on the National Incident Management System.
The combination of our knowledge of health care operations and medical training enable us to design and deliver more targeted plans and in-depth command and control training. One of the common issues faced is to get more contributors to better understand their roles and responsibilities. The Emergency Manager often requires support to get Medical Technical Specialists and Executives to understand their roles and how they fit in the Chain of Command. Response Systems understands these challenges and closes these gaps.
Hospitals and Hospital Systems
We are a Physician led company providing authentic health care based emergency management programs. That is to say, our professionals have worked inside hospitals. We understand the challenges non-first responder organizations have immersing their teams in Incident Command System roles and responsibilities. Physicians, administrators are volunteers in the response. These key contributors and all personnel perform better when their functions are put in context with their normal hospital roles. Our training makes sense to them. For large systems, we tie in the individual hospital to the corporate EOC response.
Special Needs
Special needs patients or victims often add stress to the disaster response. For instance, transporting Neo-natal hospital patients in disasters requires specialized equipment and planning. Conflicts with compatible equipment can endanger and slow the entire operation. Triaging pediatric disaster victims can be daunting without a Pediatric Medicine Specialist immediately on scene. Caring for geriatric patients and mental health patients in an alternate care site or in transport requires specific awareness and plans. Response Systems has the experience to assist in planning for and responding to these special needs. We have targeted training to help any responder more effectively manage these vulnerable populations.
EMS
EMS Professionals have a strong desire in developing their roles in disaster response schemes. Response Systems consults with EMS organizations on Emergency Management Program creation. We train responders and Command and General Staff on probable roles and responsibilities within their own Incident Command structure, Area Command and a Unified Command. Our training is conducted from an EMS perspective. Many EMS responders have found value in our disaster life support training classes.
Evacuation
Response Systems has helped clients define policies, plans and tools to manage an evacuation of their facility or system. We have led “bed to bed” evacuations including the repatriation of patients hundreds of miles away. We have service agreements with transport providers covering the US. We work with you to insure your equipment and their transport protocols are fully understood and compatible. We help you define the logistics of moving your patients safely and efficiently within your facility and coordinate those efforts to insure your patients are not stuck in a hallway or waiting in an ambulance on an airfield.
Equipment
Response Systems supplies state-of the-art emergency and evacuation equipment and supplies. Our recommendations will compliment your newly updated or created Emergency Operation Plan. Visit our equipment page for more information.
Part of Planning is to identify gaps in present capabilities of response and develop actionable tasks to close them. There may be common themes or areas that need fixing yet the design of activities to be efficacious are very much dependent on particular variables of staff, support, relationship with partner agencies, policies, logistics, etc. Response Systems takes pride in understanding these issues in a collaborative process to achieve the outcomes you are looking for.
